Course Narration

When it comes to narration for eLearning courses, there is a lot more to a successful outcome than just the ability to record an audio file.
There are actually three components in getting to a great product:
- Copywriting for the medium
- Interpreting copy and pacing of the narrator
- Quality engineering of the microphone type, placement, setting and recording environment
Copywriting
The most important part of good eLeaning course narration is starting with good copywriting for the medium. Generally speaking, the narration needs to augment the visuals and the rest of the course content and never repeat textual content verbatim. The ability to write economincally and clearly makes course content easier to digest with less cognitive load. If any of these considerations are missed, your multimedia content will fall flat.
Interpreting Copy
Once you have strong copy, how that copy is read matters. Speed, enunciation and emphasis all lead to a successful or unsuccessful learner experience and retention. This is where a lot of AI audio tends to fall short of human teaching.
